Mimaki Europe Declares Fespa a Success

UV and textile printer innovations attracted high visitor numbers to the stand

By Ratanaporn B. Jakobsen

Mimaki, the manufacture of wide format inkjet printers and cutting machines, experienced an extremely positive Fespa 2010. With its complete range of digital printing and cutting solutions on show, Mimaki demonstrated its extensive product portfolio and its ability to provide digital print companies, sign makers, silk screen and pad printers with innovative, high-quality machines that support business growth and return on investment (ROI).

The UV and textile printers in particular managed to attract considerable attention from digital print companies, sign makers, silk screen and pad printers. No less than three UJF-3042 A3 UV printers were assembled alongside each other. The first machine printed variable data with special personalisation software, the second, proofing and mock-up printing with GMG software for colour management, and the third, various types of novelties. All three machines attracted considerable visitor interest. And for those looking for a more industrial solution the new UJF-706 was on show printing on 11 cm thick plastic paper holders and plastic ID cards.

In addition, Mimaki witnessed positive visitor feedback in response to its UV flatbed JFX-1631, shown at Fespa with a pre-production roll-to-roll option and after curing unit. Considerably higher print speeds are generated by the curing unit, and with speeds reaching up to 17 m2/h, the exceptionally accurate JFX is a machine that adds real value by offering print companies greater flexibility, speed and quality.

Visitors interested in textile printing solutions were also attracted to the new 1.8 m wide Tx400-1800D, the successor of the renowned Tx2 Series. The Tx400 can print directly onto almost all appropriate types of textile, including polyester with sublimation inks and cotton with reactive dye inks. Also on show was Mimaki's new super wide printer for soft signage, the 3.2 m wide JV5-320DS direct sublimation printer, based on the 3.2 m wide solvent model.

Gert Jan van Hilten, Manager Marketing Communications concludes: "We are very pleased with the response to our wide format machines at Fespa. Interest shown was indicative of the strong growth of the Mimaki product portfolio over the recent years. We are an organisation that looks to continually innovate and produce products that add real value, whether it's through speed, quality or flexibility. We recognise that digital printers, sign makers, silk screen and pad printers etc. all require digital wide format solutions that can truly add value to their businesses by opening new sales channels and product offerings. This is why at Mimaki, we look to research and develop machines that can support both commercial and industrial applications across multiple markets."
